| A Bit About Bytes |
|
In 2013 it is projected that data storage will
be measured in yottabytes. You can remain on the leading
edge of storage capacity nomenclature with this handy
reference chart:
Put in other terms, a yottabyte is a unit of
computer storage equal to one septillion bytes, or
1,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000 bytes. Now, that's
more than a bit about
bytes. | |

Talk from the AVP of Architecture
Services |
Timothy Gehrig, Associate Vice President of
Architecture Services at CedarCrestone, recently joined
the CedarCrestone Channel to provide his
perspective on the improved performance, stability,
security, and accessibility that CedarCrestone
Managed Services (CMS) commits to in
their Hosting Service Level Agreement.
Major differentiators of CMS, as described by Mr.
Gehrig, include management's dedication to
state-of-the-art technology, flexibility of solutions
(because one size does not fit all), and the commitment
to be a complete end-to-end provider.
His interview begins with an overview of
the Architecture Services Department including
their mandate and responsibilities, then to a high level
discussion of the technologies used today and ones that
will be deployed in the future, and ending with valuable
technological characteristics that a prospective
customer should be aware of when researching a possible
hosting partner. We invite you to watch
the full video interview to learn about the 300 hosted
environments managed by CedarCrestone senior technicians
who focus on innovation and implementation of CMS
hardware, software, technology, backups, failover, and
data encryption.
Mr. Gehrig concludes the interview with insight
into future CMS technology investments
which will include the omnipresent focus on
improved security and additional authentication
solutions. Other initiatives include
a continued investment in the backup
infrastructure and technologies to further automate our
data center operations.

| Applistructure - "The Future of
Technology" |
In the past year, Applistructure has proven to still be
very much the future of technology. In basic terms, the
concept of Applistructure represents the merge of enterprise
application and infrastructure technology. This
process-centric framework is built upon the strengths of
leading technologies like SOA and BPM and delivers increased
automation, enhanced third party integration and access to
real-time information throughout the enterprise. In the
end, Applistructure architecture will provide a more
complete and flexible technology stack that is less expensive
to maintain, more secure and easier to reconfigure, upgrade
and enhance.
The problems that plague CIOs and IT managers while
managing applications and infrastructure independently
and relying on complex enterprise application integration
tools will be a thing of the past.
Applistructure is not a short term technology fad. Both
vendors, like Oracle, and customers are embracing it, and
racing towards it, due to a number of key factors, predominant
of which is information access. At the core of
Applistructure is the concept of "actionable intelligence." By
streamlining processes, integrated applications and enabling
access to strategic business information in real-time,
customers will be provided with a holistic view of their
enterprise.
From the customer perspective, Applistructure enables
several key business benefits, including:
- Seamless integration with all third party and custom
built applications
- Vendor consolidation
- Increased process automation
- Open systems
- Best of breed application selection
- Enhanced security and compliance capabilities
- Reduced IT architecture complexity
- Reduced maintenance and support costs
- Enhanced business agility and process
transparency.
As the race to Applistructure continues and the roadmap for
customers becomes clear, we hope the thoughts shared above
provide some insight into this ever-growing movement. In order
to be best prepared to leverage the advantages of this
technology framework, customers must clearly understand its
underpinnings and Oracle's strategy for driving business value
through it. Applistructure is the future, and CedarCrestone
and Oracle's customers must be prepared to face
it. |
