Management Consulting Services Process Assessment
and Redesign
Conceptual Model
CedarCrestone has developed a process to assess and redesign business processes based upon the work of
Dr. Markus Gappmaier, a faculty member in Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management. His
approach focuses on creating a solution using a unique and innovative Picture Card Design Model (“PCDM”)
that simplifies and expedites process mapping and redesign.
Process
CedarCrestone works with business process experts in the institution to both map and redesign their
processes. Some of our clients include a student team as part of the redesign. We interview the
participants to determine the objective of the process, describe how the process serves its
constituencies, establish process performance metrics, identify areas for improvement and suggest new
ideas for improvement. Once the current processes are mapped, CedarCrestone conducts several workshops
with a project team to evaluate the processes based upon best practices principles and criteria. The
consultant trains the participants in the mapping technique and facilitates the redesign of the processes
using small, focused groups. The resulting redesigned processes are evaluated using the established
criteria. CedarCrestone and the project team then identify policy changes, automation needs, role
transitions, and financial implications.
Deliverables
The deliverables are a set of current and redesigned process maps and an accompanying narrative report
in which we summarize the initiative; describe process objectives, performance metrics, participants,
systems support and policy issues; and present a set of recommendations to implement the redesigned
processes.
